How do the Coachella Valley economy and the State of California benefit from the presence of College of the Desert?
This study, completed in June 2010, applies a comprehensive model designed to quantify the economic benefits of community colleges and translate these into common sense benefit/cost and investment terms. The study utilizes two major analyses: investment analysis and economic growth analysis.
Graduates earn more over the course of their working careers, California benefits from improved health and reduced expenses on social programs, and the Coachella Valley economy benefits from the COD payroll and operations spending. These and other factors combine for an economic impact of more than $296 million in average annual income.
