The Basic Correctional Officer Training provides entry-level training for correctional officers. The Basic Correctional Deputy Academy is a 413‐hour course that exceeds the minimum training requirements of section 179 of the California Code of Regulations and meets the 832 P.C. training requirements of 831.5 P.C.
In addition to the Standards and Training for Corrections (STC) requirements, this course includes Report Writing and Record Keeping, Maintaining Security, Programs, Classification of Offenders, Behavioral Health, Emergency Procedures, Physical Training, Communication, Assault and Abuse (PREA), Tactical Communication, and Officer Liability.
* All students who successfully graduate will participate in a formal graduation ceremony.
